Summery:
Usually attributed to car lights traveling along US Route 67, these strange lights supposedly have been showing up in the area since around 1840, long before the first cars showed up in Texas.
In Depth:
The Marfa lights are actually some of the more famous of the ghost light in the US.
They're so famous, in fact, that a viewing area was built along the road
for people to stop and watch the lights if the so desired. Just 9 miles
east from the city of Marfa, Texas down US Route 90, it's easily
accessible for when one wants to head out and see some weird lights for
themselves.
The Marfa Lights
are described as hovering just above the desert brush, ranging in
brightness from dim or blindingly brilliant. They also come in many
different colors: most are yellow or orange, but green, blue or even red
can be seen on occasion. When they do appear, they can stay absolutely
still, pulsate, dart about the desert at great speed, even split in two
or merge together.
