Frightened embers of a tiny community in rural Thailand called the police in order to help with a ghost known as a phi pob. Police stepped up patrols in the area to help reassure the local population.

A phi pob is a type of evil spirit that can hold power over humans, manifesting itself from within a living person until it decides to leave, and from there it can possess another host (usually a woman.) Once in possession of a new host it acts like a parasite, eating their entrails from within while bringing sickness to others around them, killing and eating livestock, and otherwise producing bad luck for the community as a whole.
