What started out as a fun little creepypasta about a sleep deprivation-inducing game mod could now very well be real thanks to some fans with too much time on their hands.

In Depth:

A story about a mysterious PC mod to the popular ARPG The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind appeared on several creepypasta websites, implying reality-altering abilities being added to a videogame (or at least causing hallucinations due to the severe sleep deprivation that people would subject themselves to in order to peel back its secrets.)

Known as jvk1166z.esp, the file soon began to appear on file sharing sites, where curious fans began to download it in order to try and see if it really worked. While mostly a lesson in not believing everything you read, fans of the game and the creepypasta began attempting to remake the mod as described in the story, leading to very real mods being posted to sites like Nexus, allowing people to experience it for real.
