The St. Sennen Church Cemetery supposedly has a legend that bells can sometimes be heard chiming at midnight. It is believed to be caused by the ghost of a sea captain who is in denial that his ship has sunk off the coast, and is a bad omen to those that hear it, especially sailors.

Supposedly, if you hear the bells you should refrain from leaving port, as those that ignore the warning are soon lost at sea.
